Rasbull Semtex - Proving himself at stock!

In the Irish National one of our entries from 'Rasbull Semtex' once again flew very well recording 6th Club, 195th National with 3782 birds. This cock has excelled since we purchased him in 2012.

He won the following racing himself:-

1st Club, 2nd Section, 1,438 birds, 3rd Federation, 3,652 birds - 86 miles

4th Open Jubilee Race Welsh Region, 500+ miles.

He has bred the following birds with us since 2012:-

3rd Open - Pigeon Pixels One Loft Race 2013 - 176 miles.

80th Open - Final Somerset One Loft Race 2013 - 265 miles

4th & 5th Open- 1st Hotspot Pigeon Pixels One Loft Race - 103 miles

5th Open - 2nd Hotspot Pigeon Pixels One Loft Race - 103 miles

7th Open - 4th Hotspot  Pigeon Pixels One Loft Race - 124 miles

4th & 9th Ace Bird - Pigeon Pixels One Loft Race 2014

6th Club, 195th National - 230 miles, 3782 birds

The thing that makes this cock stand out is that only 7 youngsters from him have been entered into races by us!! Next year we are planning to develop the whole loft around this cock and hopefully we will see some more fantastic performances from his children and grand children!

Pigeon Pixels One Loft Race Final

Great news for Rasbull Lofts and our breeding programme!

We finished 6th Open in the Final of the Pigeon Pixels One Loft Race 2014 with WHU14T 05302. The bird also finished 4th Ace Bird. This pigeon was bred from our No.1 stock pair in their first year pairing!

In addition to this bird we sent her nest mate who finished 13th Open in the final. We also sent another full sister to these to compete in this years event and she finished 9th Ace Bird. Between them they won 4th, 4th, 5th, 5th, 7th, 7th Hotspot, add to that the 6th Open in the Final and the 4th & 9th Ace Birds and I am over the moon!

I am very pleased with this as the sire of this bird 'Rasbull Semtex' also bred the 3rd Open in last years final so some very good genes to be working with in our stock loft!

Pigeon Pixels One Loft Race

Our birds once again performed well in the 4th Hotspot in the Pigeon Pixels One Loft Race from 124 miles. '02' finished 7th Open and '01' 13th Open. In the 5th Hotspot from 156 miles they improved again with '06' being 4th Open and '02' finishing 7th Open. The birds we sent to Ireland have performed very well up to now. They were all bred from our top stock pair and after 5 Hotspots have been:- 4th, 4th, 5th, 5th, 7th, and 7th. I am very pleased with these performances considering these birds are bred for the longer distances. The final is on Saturday 23rd August and I strongly fancy their chances from 176 miles but my bigger hopes lay in the Irish Nationals after the One Loft series has finished. '02' is sitting joint 3rd in the Ace Bird standing and '06' is sitting in joint 6th. When you consider 60 birds were entered I am very pleased with how these birds have come given the first time pairing of their parents. Hopefully all 3 birds will produce something special come the final race.
Another fancier doing well with my pigeons is Tenny Tipper in Aberdare. Tenny had birds off me at the start of the season and he still has 4 in his race team. Last week Tenny clocked '14' to be his first bird and finish 6th Club. I will post up the results Tenny achieves with these birds as the season progresses.

One Loft Updates

The 2nd Hotspot in the Pigeon Pixels took place on Friday 25th July 2014 and our 3 entries once again did well. We finished 5th, 16th and 26th from the 44 sent. All 3 are from our top pair here at Rasbull Lofts and hopefully they will continue to secure decent performances throughout the series. So far 05301 has been 4th, 05302 has been 5th and 05306 has been 5th in the 2 races that have been held! This pair are proving to be capable of producing very good birds!

Our entries in the Welsh Classic Challenge are progressing very nicely and all 5 remain in the lofts of B.Williams and Son (double BICC winners)! Racing is beginning very shortly so will be interesting to see how our birds perform. We have our top youngsters down their this year from our 3 best pairs so fingers crossed they will perform very well.

We will continue to update this page with news as and when it happens! All news is also featured on Pigeon Pixels forum. Please visit www.Pigeonpixels.co.uk

We will be monitoring the market from now until December to ensure we obtain at least one very good addition to our stock loft. The new policy is going very well but you can't stand still and need to continue introducing outstanding birds to the loft as they become available.

Great start for our entries in the Pigeon Pixels One Loft Race. Our 3 entries finished 4th, 5th and 19th Hotspot with 44 birds sent from 103 miles. Great start for the birds who are all off my number 1 pair which I have high hopes for!

Welsh Classic Challenge

Our entry from last year racing in the Welsh Classic Challenge for B.Williams and Son finished 4th Section, 702 birds, 51st Federation from 3,533 birds. 5 sent to the Welsh Classic Challenge

I took our 5 entries to B.Williams & Son this morning for the Pigeon Pixels Welsh Classic Challenge. Hopefully they will do very well over the next couple of years. I also saw our remaining entry from last year now settled in the Widowhood loft. I am assured he is totally bonkers and hopefully he will produce some good results this year. I know Ant is planning on sending him to the BICC in a couple of weeks time so fingers crossed he will do well.

Breeding has gone very well

Breeding has gone exceptionally well here at Rasbull Lofts this year, with the quality of the bird bred amongst the highest we have had. The youngsters are in outstanding condition and a picture of health. We have sent 4 entries over to Ireland for the Pigeon Pixels One Loft Race. These are 4 brothers and sisters from our No.1 pair and we are expecting big things from these in the coming series. We have 5 weaned off and these will go to B.Williams and Son for the Welsh Classic Challenge. We have a further 9 then in the nest which we have not decided yet where these will go.
Our entries in the Welsh and Irish Classic Challenge from last year have made a positive start to this season with 10135 who finished 3rd Open Pigeon Pixels One Loft Race in 2013 has had 2 races and 10126 in the Welsh Classic Challenge has today had his first race of the season. Hopefully as the distance increases their performances will improve.

Planning!

We are busy planning at the moment where the birds we have bred will be going to! With not racing ourselves due to our change of policy, we are trying to select which One Loft Races to enter. We are definitely sending 4 birds to the Pigeon Pixels One Loft Race and these are in the nest as we speak and will probably be another 2 weeks or so before they are sent to Ireland. I am debating whether or not to send to the Somerset One Loft Race and also the Algarve Golden Race. In addition to this there is also the Derby Arona race. The attraction of the Derby Arona race and the Algarve Race is that we will have slightly more time to get the birds bred from the correct pairs. I am sure over the next 3-4 weeks we will have a better idea of what we will be doing and what races Rasbull Lofts will be competing in this coming year.

Change of Policy

We have taken the drastic decision to stop racing ourselves altogether from 2014 onwards! This is due to work commitments and loft location. We have reduced our numbers considerably and will now be focusing on our stock loft and one loft racing. We believe this is the best way for the loft to progress and continue to perform well. Over the course of the next 12 months we will be entering a number of one loft events and we will also be introducing a couple of very decent acquisitions to the stock loft. We have reduced our numbers to just 16 birds in total of which 8 birds will be used as foster parents.

We have paired the birds up and they are starting to lay and once we aware of how the current breeding season is going we will be selecting our entries for the one loft races. I will keep you all updated as news comes.
